How Much Do You Know the American Flag?

It is the flag of one of the world’s most powerful countries. It has its monikers, the Stars and Stripes. It has become so recognizable that it may as well be said that it is the most famous or popular flag in the planet. In whatever size it comes, no one , I think, will ever mistake it for some other country’s flag.

It may be the easily recognized flag in the world, aside from its 50 five pointed stars and thirteen alternating blue and white stripes, what else do we really know about the American flag?

The flag of the United States of America has come to be known by its nicknames apart from the Stars and Stripes. It is also referred to as Old Glory and the Star Spangled Banner. The flag is hoisted up during sunrise or early morning and taken down before it gets dark. The flag can also be flown 24 hours and allowed to wave proudly all day and all through the night when it is afforded with proper illumination. The flag is retrieved during bad weather conditions. When this flag is flown upside down, just like any other nation’s flag, it takes a different meaning. In this case, the American flag flown upside down means that a person requires assistance or a person is in grave danger.

The country which was first to acknowledge the American flag as USA’s symbol was France as these two countries have enjoyed deep relations long way back. France aided the USA in its bid for independence from Great Britain during the War of Independence.
